Every Apple App Store screenshot size, file format, and requirement you need for App Store Connect. This guide covers iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV specifications so you can submit with confidence.
Quick Summary
- Minimum: 2 screenshots per locale per device
- Maximum: 10 screenshots per locale per device
- Formats: JPEG or PNG (no alpha/transparency)
- Max file size: 30 MB per screenshot (App Store Connect limit)
- Color space: sRGB or Display P3
- Orientation: Portrait or landscape — but all screenshots in a locale must use the same orientation
iPhone Screenshot Sizes
Apple requires screenshots for at least the 6.7-inch and 5.5-inch display sizes. If you only provide the 6.7-inch size, App Store Connect will scale it down for smaller devices — but submitting device-specific screenshots gives you better control over how your listing looks.

iPad Screenshot Sizes
If your app runs on iPad, you must provide screenshots for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Other iPad sizes are optional — App Store Connect will scale the 12.9-inch screenshots for smaller iPads if dedicated screenshots are not uploaded.
iPad Displays

Apple Watch Screenshot Sizes
Apple Watch screenshots are only needed if your app includes a watchOS companion. Each watch size requires its own set of screenshots.

Apple TV Screenshot Sizes
Apple TV screenshots are only required if your app supports tvOS. The standard resolution is 1920 x 1080 (Full HD). You can optionally provide 3840 x 2160 for 4K displays.
Apple TV Displays
| Device | Display | Size (px) | Orientation | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apple TV (4K / HD) | TV | 1920 x 1080 | Landscape | Optional | Required if your app supports Apple TV. 16:9 aspect ratio. |
| Apple TV (4K — 3840 x 2160) | TV 4K | 3840 x 2160 | Landscape | Optional | Optional higher-resolution alternative for Apple TV 4K. |
Portrait vs. Landscape
You can upload screenshots in portrait or landscape orientation, but all screenshots within a single device size and locale must use the same orientation. You cannot mix portrait and landscape in one set.
For landscape screenshots, simply swap the width and height. For example, a 6.7-inch iPhone landscape screenshot would be 2796 x 1290 pixels.
Most apps use portrait orientation because that is how users typically browse the App Store. Landscape is common for games and media apps.
File Format Requirements
App Store Connect accepts JPEG and PNG files. PNGs must not include an alpha channel (transparency). If your PNG has transparency, App Store Connect will reject it.
The maximum file size is 30 MB per screenshot. In practice, well-compressed PNGs and high-quality JPEGs are usually well under this limit.
Screenshots should use the sRGB or Display P3 color space. Avoid CMYK or other print color profiles.
Best Practices for App Store Screenshots
1. Lead with your strongest feature
The first two screenshots are visible without scrolling in App Store search results. Make them count — show your app's core value proposition immediately.
2. Use all 10 screenshot slots
More screenshots mean more opportunities to convince users to download. Show different features, use cases, and benefits across all 10 slots.
3. Localize for every market
App Store Connect supports screenshots per locale. Users are significantly more likely to download apps with screenshots in their own language. Automate localization to cover more markets without manual work.
4. Add captions and context
Raw screenshots are not enough. Add text captions that explain what the user is looking at. Frame your app in a device mockup for a polished, professional appearance.
5. Keep screenshots consistent across devices
Maintain the same visual style, color palette, and messaging across iPhone, iPad, and other device sizes. Inconsistent screenshots look unprofessional and confuse users.
6. Automate your screenshot pipeline
Manually resizing screenshots for every device and locale does not scale. Use a tool like Screenshots.live to design once and render all sizes automatically via API — integrated into your CI/CD pipeline.
Generate All These Sizes Automatically
Stop resizing screenshots manually. Design one template and render every size, device, and locale with a single API call.
